Hundreds of Prospective Students in Timor-Leste Undergo Interviews for the UNESA Global Scholarship Program

unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA--Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) participated in the International Education Exhibition held at the Indonesian Cultural Center, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Timor-Leste, on October 24-25, 2024.
The international exhibition, presented by the Indonesian Education Attaché for Timor-Leste for the youth of Timor-Leste, was attended by around 60 universities from Indonesia with various majors and fields of study.
Asrori, an English education lecturer and one of UNESA's representatives for the exhibition, stated that this opportunity was used to introduce the 'Home of Champions' campus to prospective international students, especially from Timor-Leste.
In addition, UNESA also offers scholarship programs to prospective students from Timor-Leste to study at UNESA through the UNESA Global Scholarship program.

"There are about 300 scholarship applicants who underwent interview sessions with the UNESA team that went there, including myself, and other lecturers, namely Mrs. Herma Retno Prabayanti, and Mr. Muhammad Nurul Ashar," said the Head of the International Affairs Sub-Directorate of UNESA.
He added that the enthusiasm of the visitors to the education exhibition was very high. The exhibition area was crowded with prospective students from Timor-Leste, seeking information about their dream campuses in Indonesia.
One of the students from Timor-Leste, Lafiya, stated that this education exhibition is very good to be held and attended, as it allows them to choose the universities they want to continue their higher education at.

Other students from Timor-Leste also mentioned that their enthusiasm for attending this exhibition was due to the high quality of education in Indonesia, supported by professional teaching staff.
One of the answers from a Timor-Leste student when asked why they wanted to study at an Indonesian campus mentioned that one of the reasons was the quality of the universities and the excellent lecturers.
"There are many quality schools in Indonesia, and the teachers are also great. That is important in education," said Emelinda, one of the exhibition visitors.
Through this activity, UNESA is ready to become a driving force in the effort to improve international education. Various plans for international scholarship programs have been prepared and can be followed by prospective students around the world.[*]
