Inspected by Ministry Team, UNESA Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Committed to Realizing Vulnerable Group Friendly Services

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-The Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB) together with the Ministry of Education and Culture's Bureau of Organization and Administration (Ortala) carried out field verification related to the Development of Vulnerable Group Friendly Public Services in 2024 at Surabaya State University (UNESA), on Monday, September 17, 2024.
The event, which took place in Building I8 of UNESA's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol), was attended by representatives of KemenPAN RB, namely Mulyanah as an intermediate apparatus human resources analyst and Nanang Khoiruddin, the first expert policy analyst. From the Ministry of Education and Culture, Zulfahmi, technical policy analyst, and M. Armansyah, organizational analyst were present. In addition, Gina from the Ortala Bureau was also present as a policy technical reviewer.
From UNESA, Vice Rector II for Law, Governance, Finance, Resources and Business, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri; Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Wiwik Sri Utami, and Vice Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Harmanto, as well as several other relevant officials were present.
In her speech, Mulyanah explained that the main purpose of this verification was to discuss further and see firsthand the supporting evidence that had been submitted. She emphasized the importance of reviewing the follow-up action plans that have been prepared so that the recommendations given are more appropriate. “We hope UNESA can be a role model of inclusive education and public services for other institutions,” she said.

Vice Rector II, Bachtiar Syaiful Bachri, emphasized UNESA's commitment to improving public services for vulnerable groups and disabilities. “We continue to improve following the dynamics in the field. Through this activity, we hope to get input to develop a digitalization system for public services, especially for vulnerable groups,” he said.
Fisipol has taken significant steps to ensure comfort and accessibility for vulnerable groups, including disabilities. Some of the existing facilities include guided walkways, special disabled parking areas, and priority signs in classrooms.
In addition, the Integrated Service Unit (ULT) has been equipped with priority seating for vulnerable groups as well as a dedicated queue. Future development plans also include the completion of guiding blocks in building corridors, construction of ramps, disabled toilets in other buildings, as well as the provision of lactation rooms, quiet rooms, and children's play areas.

In 2025, all Fisipol buildings are targeted to have ramps to improve accessibility. "We are committed to continuously improving facilities that are friendly to all to ensure that the entire academic community, including those with physical limitations, feel comfortable and well-accommodated," explained Wiwik Sri Utami.
In terms of technology, Fisipol has developed SIDILAN, an application that supports services for vulnerable groups. In addition, various devices such as braille keyboards, hearing aids, screen magnifier applications such as Magnifier plus, and other supporting applications such as NVDA and Hearme have been implemented to support communication for vulnerable groups.
"We also continue to conduct training to improve the competence of our human resources to be better prepared to serve vulnerable groups well," added Wiwik Sri Utami.
With these various initiatives, Fisipol UNESA is determined to become a pioneer in inclusive public services, utilizing technology and infrastructure that are friendly to vulnerable groups to support inclusive and sustainable teaching and learning activities.[]
