UNESA and East Java Regional Police Forge Cooperation for Strengthening Police Human Resources

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) continues to expand and strengthen cooperation with various partners. Recently, the campus with the motto 'Growing with Character' signed a cooperation agreement with the East Java Regional Police (Polda Jatim). The cooperation agreement was signed by the Vice Rector IV of UNESA and the Chief of East Java Regional Police at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Martadi, Vice Rector IV for Planning, Development, Cooperation, and Information and Communication Technology at UNESA, stated that this cooperation is a manifestation of UNESA's commitment together with Polda Jatim to strengthen the human resource capacity of police members in East Java.
The UNESA education expert added that this cooperation is a strategic collaboration in encouraging the strengthening of the role and function of the police in society. He appreciated the steps and commitment of Polda Jatim, which pays great attention to the human resource aspect.

"As we know, when an institution, society, or even a country wants to progress, the key lies in human resources. Because that is an essential requirement for advancement. With this collaboration, we are ready to fully support the human resource capacity strengthening program of Polda Jatim," he said.
The Chief of East Java Regional Police, Inspector General Imam Sugianto, stated that this cooperation aims to enhance the capacity of young police personnel who wish to continue their education to the university level. In addition to UNESA, they are also collaborating with two other universities, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, and Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya (Untag).
According to him, this is part of human resource investment within the police environment, which is very important for the future. The target of this investment is for the next 5 to 10 years, where it is hoped that the personnel will have a mature and correct mindset in serving and protecting the community.
The Chief believes that personnel have the capacity to think well and correctly, make the right decisions, and bring goodness when carrying out their duties in the community.
He continued, this cooperation is not only for improving the academic abilities of police members but also for encouraging the strengthening of research, innovation, and service in the field of policing.[*]
