UNESA to Inaugurate Social Rehabilitation Project in August, to be Attended by BNN RI

Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA-Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) plans the inauguration of an outpatient social rehabilitation project for drug abuse as well as a focus group discussion or FGD at the end of August 2024. This activity is planned to be attended by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia.
Various preparations were made by UNESA through the Directorate of Prevention and Countermeasures of Strategic Issues (PPIS), one of which was holding a coordination meeting in Meeting Room 801, Rectorate, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Director of PPIS, Mutimmatul Faidah said that the coordination meeting was in order to discuss the preparation of the FGD which was directed to raise topics around the role of universities in efforts to prevent and handle narcotics.
“We also discussed making the momentum of BNN RI's presence an opportunity to establish cooperation. In addition to the FGD, there will also be a project inauguration,” said the UNESA professor.
According to him, cooperation with BNN RI is an important part of strengthening synergy in preventing and tackling drug trafficking. “The fight against drug abuse cannot be limited to the government alone, but it needs commitment and synergy from all parties, including universities. With cooperation, our efforts will be more massive,” he added.
Wiryo Nuryono, Head of Mitigation Sub-directorate of UNESA Crisis Center, added that the preparation of the event discussed also concerns the technical flow of the FGD and the inauguration of the social rehabilitation project, the selection of internal and external vendors used, the number of invited guests and the venue layout.
“The three series of events will be carried out in a hybrid manner, aka also broadcast live via YouTube,” he explained.
In addition, the Head of the UNESA Domestic Cooperation Sub-directorate, Beni Setiawan, together with the protocol team also prepared a plan for the contents of the MoU and cooperation, certainly containing tridarma, P4GN, and social rehabilitation. To ensure the details of the event, a follow-up meeting will be held to ensure UNESA's readiness to welcome BNN RI in the near future. [*]
