Digital Learning Innovation by TP Lecturer Team Leads UNESA to Win Kemendikbudristek Award

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—The State University of Surabaya (UNESA) has been named the 3rd Best university in the Development and Implementation Assistance Program for Digital Learning Category 1 in 2023. The award was received during the Seminar on the Results of the Development and Implementation Assistance Program for Digital Learning in Bekasi on December 6-8, 2023.
This award was achieved by a team of lecturers from the Educational Technology (TP) department, Faculty of Education (FIP), consisting of Hirnanda Dimas Pradana, M.Pd; Dr. Alim Sumarno, M.Pd; Dr. Andi Kristanto, M.Pd; Dr. Utari Dewi, S.Sn., M.Pd; and Citra Fitri Kholidya, M.Pd.
This achievement began with the Development and Implementation of Digital Learning program conducted since the beginning of the semester, from August to December. They reviewed the E-Learning developed and had to upload it to SPADA (Indonesian Digital Learning System) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).
The team from the Educational Technology Study Program managed to rank in the top 10 in Category One. This category allows courses or classes provided by the study program to be accessed by anyone—not only UNESA students but also students outside of UNESA.
Hirnanda Dimas Pradana, as the team leader, conveyed that the course developed was Photo Media Development, which was participated in by 251 students both from within and outside UNESA. After making it to the top 10, the UNESA team held a results seminar on the Photo Media Development class and succeeded in achieving third place nationally.
The class they developed is project-based, producing products like photos and featuring innovations such as an online photography gallery and a DSLR camera simulation accessible through a website.
Students can upload their work according to the assigned criteria, and the most unique aspect is the DSLR Camera Simulation, where students can try how a DSLR camera works through the website. They can adjust the ISO, Aperture, Exposure, and features on the DSLR camera.
The gentleman commonly known as Dimas expressed his happiness in receiving the award. “We are very grateful, Alhamdulillah, to be able to reach the top 10 and had no expectations whatsoever, but we and the team are very happy and proud to achieve the national top 3. Thank you for the support of all parties,” he said.
The Educational Technology lecturer mentioned that the transformation in digital technology has become a great opportunity for both students and lecturers and is highly favored by students. With a well-systemized e-learning technology, it facilitates lecturers in teaching, and students have the freedom to access materials anywhere and anytime. When they feel they haven't gained enough knowledge during face-to-face classes, the materials can be accessed again.
Dimas hopes that this achievement can inspire the development of digital learning, especially at UNESA. “We at UNESA already have e-learning called Sidia, and hopefully, we can promote Sidia and inform students about using and learning through Sidia for easier access to education for students and staff,” he concluded.
