UNESA Holds Innovation Exhibition Involving Several Universities

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Universities are producing numerous creative and innovative breakthroughs based on technology. The products and works of these academic communities need to be introduced to the public. Therefore, UNESA, through the Directorate of Innovation, Rankings, and Scientific Publications (IPPI), held the 2nd Exhibition Innovation Product at the Atrium City of Tomorrow (Cito), Surabaya, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
This exhibition carries the theme "Innovating Today, Building Tomorrow, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Future." UNESA professor and event coordinator, Endang Susantini, mentioned that this exhibition is the second event, following the first which was held at the UNESA Rectorate some time ago.
"However, this time we are expanding the scale by featuring 40 innovation booths. We are collaborating with seven universities in East Java,” she said.

The woman affectionately known as Prof. Endang stated that the products displayed in this exhibition are mostly the results of the Kedaireka Matching Fund Program.
Additionally, there are innovations from the academic community, including those from UNESA's Center of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI). She hopes that the showcased products can provide positive and sustainable impacts for society.
The Director of IPPI UNESA, Nadi Suprapto, emphasized the importance of innovation as a path toward recognition at both national and international levels. For him, innovation is the key to progress.
"This proves UNESA's achievement of having occupied the first rank in the PTNBH IKU League. We want to continue to show that we are capable of competing with other leading universities,” he asserted.
The professor from FMIPA added that the fields of innovation developed at UNESA encompass almost all aspects, starting from the university's strengths such as sports, arts, and disabilities, to education and technology.

Not content with simply creating innovations, they are also encouraging these products to be commercialized, so that they can truly be used by the wider community.
One of the flagship innovations that attracted attention at the exhibition was the LINCAH application, designed by Alfina Diva Pratiwi.
LINCAH is a technology-based application to train footwork movements in badminton, focusing on the agility and physical reactions of athletes.
"This application is designed to be used on an iPad or smartphone. There are features that allow users to choose training programs based on skill levels, such as automatic mode, manual, interval settings, and even training duration," explained Alfina.

Even more advanced, this application can connect to Polar devices via Bluetooth, allowing real-time monitoring of athletes' heart rates. With this feature, training sessions on the field, both indoors and outdoors, become more effective and efficient.
This innovation festival is a valuable opportunity, not only for UNESA but also for all the participating universities, to introduce innovations that have a wide impact on society.
The universities collaborating in this exhibition include: Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Universitas Airlangga (Unair), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jawa Timur (UPNV Jatim).
In addition, there's Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel (UINSA), Petra Christian University, Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya (UNUSA), and PGRI Adi Buana University.[*]
