UNESA Launches Various Innovations in Sports, Arts, and Disabilities

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—The Directorate of Innovation, Ranking, and Scientific Publication at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) launched a number of innovations by lecturers and students during an event titled "Innovation Product Launch" at the Rectorate Lobby, Lidah Wetan Campus, on Thursday (30/11/2023).
The Director of Innovation, Ranking, and Scientific Publication, Prof. Nadi Suprapto, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., mentioned that this innovation launch is the first since the Covid-19 pandemic ended. This event, he continued, aims to showcase the products or innovations of UNESA's academic community.
He noted that the development of AI has become an inseparable part of the many innovations produced by the 'House of Champions' campus community. "UNESA's excellence in sports, arts, and disability education strives to generate positive innovations for society," he said.
The Head of the KUI Development Subdirectorate, Prof. Dr. Endang Susantini, M.Pd., in her remarks, explained that the existing innovations are the result of hard work and collaboration among all involved parties. “I hope these innovative outcomes bring benefits and blessings to both the creators and those who access them,” she added.
Some of the innovations launched include:
First, the UNESA Intelligent System product for predicting student study periods based on advanced machine learning.
This product can predict the process and results of student studies through a web-based platform with specific algorithms to facilitate and assist lecturers in guiding their students. The outcome of this innovation can be accessed through the page sistemcerdas.unesa.ac.id

Second, KarakterNesa, a development of an interactive, disability-friendly, and digital-based learning product to cultivate courteous character in Indonesian children.
It includes interactive learning media through audiovisuals and animated puzzle books that are very engaging for children to learn. This product is also supported with Braille letters for visually impaired students.
Third, EduAsses, an Android-based e-Assessment application to facilitate prospective teacher students in creating Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions. Fourth, Extended Wheelchair, a wheelchair equipped with various features for people with disabilities, the elderly, and the sick.

Fifth, Shones, a sports apparel with artistic patterns that embodies inclusivity in the world of sports. The authentic, unique, and aesthetic imagery depicted in this clothing instills the spirit of agility, equality, and adaptability among people with disabilities.
Sixth, Robot and Human Interaction Module for Learning Activities (RHI-MOLA). A learning medium in the field of robotics to enhance students' creativity and competence. Seventh, POPSI; Smart Push Up Counter: the development of a push-up monitoring system based on ESP32.
This innovation is equipped with a distance sensor for real-time performance analysis. The device can measure and record the number of push-ups accurately, provide feedback, and store workout data for further analysis.
Lastly, there's Hatofit: Personal Coach, a product development of an intelligent system for monitoring cardiovascular endurance using a wearable heart rate monitor. Hatofit is an Android-based application that can be personally connected with wearable heart rate monitors (Polar H10 and Polar Verity Sense) to monitor the user's heart rate during exercise.
