UNESA Pre-Service PPG Students Showcase Over a Hundred HKI-Certified Works and Innovations

Unesa.ac.id., SURABAYA—Pre-service PPG students of the first wave of 2023 at the State University of Surabaya (UNESA) showcased the results of their Leadership Projects, totaling 126 groups from 20 study programs. This exhibition, featuring 135 works certified by Intellectual Property Rights (HKI), was held at the Rectorate field of Campus 2 Lidah Wetan on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
The Head of the UNESA Teacher Professional Education Agency, Drs. Fatkur Rohman Kafrawi, M.Pd., stated that this exhibition is an opportunity to demonstrate the creativity and innovation of PPG students.
"As prospective teachers, they (PPG students) must be creative and innovative so they can become role models for their students," he said.
The programs and innovations in the exhibition attracted the attention of visitors, one of which was "Training on Making Paving Blocks as a Solution for Utilizing Plastic Waste in the School Environment."
It's impressive to see UNESA's future educators actively engaging in projects that address real-world issues like environmental sustainability. By transforming plastic waste into paving blocks, they're not only showcasing innovation but also promoting practical solutions within the school community. Their commitment to creativity and social impact sets a strong foundation for their roles as inspiring teachers.

Syahidi Iswanto, the leader of this team, said that the abundance of plastic waste in the school environment where he serves was the reason this idea was implemented.
He explained that his team made the paving block molds themselves. The school, he continued, will carry on the innovation they provided, as the students turned out to be very enthusiastic about helping to preserve the environment in this way.
"Yesterday, we have given all the molding equipment to the school, at SMK 3 Surabaya. It feels great when the innovation we offered can be accepted and continued," he expressed.
In addition, there was also an innovation in counseling and demonstrations of GFCF (Gluten-Free Casein-Free) processing for parents and companions of children with special needs (autism).

Arizal Wahyu Diono, one of the team members who initiated this idea, said that the awareness of parents or caregivers in maintaining the nutrition of children with special needs (ABK), especially those with autism in Indonesia, is still very lacking.
In that counseling session, besides providing information about the dangers of gluten to the body, they also offered information about which food ingredients can be used as alternatives to gluten-containing foods.
"We also provided several recipe references, ways to process the ingredients, recommendations for gluten-free products, and some important material in a booklet," said the culinary program student.

In addition to the two works above, there are other creations such as processing waste paper into topographic maps, producing liquid fertilizer from organic waste, converting used cooking oil into soap and candles, as well as various types of school learning product innovations and journalism, including seminars.
The exhibition's organizing committee chairperson, Arizkylia Yoka, stated that this exhibition is like a 'farewell party' for the first wave of Pre-service PPG 2023. She acknowledged that although there were some challenges, the event ran successfully.
"There is no specific theme, but some are indeed directed to develop innovations from each respective study program that can support our future profession," she concluded.
For your information, this exhibition was also filled with art performances and was held simultaneously with the launching of Senam Guru Indonesia (SGI) initiated by BPPG UNESA.
