Socialization of Regulations, Directorate of Dormitory Prepares Student Self-Development Activities

Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA - In welcoming new students and new dormitory residents, the Directorate of Dormitories of Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a socialization of dormitory residents' rules and regulations on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

This socialization was attended by Director of Dormitory, Colectus Oky Ristanto and the heads of divisions. The Head of the Business Management Board (BPU), Mahendra Wardhana, welcomed the new residents of the UNESA dormitory. He hoped the new residents would feel at home in the UNESA dormitory.

“There will be various activities organized, including character development activities designed to help students get out of their comfort zone,” he explained.

Mahendra also explained that living in the dormitory provides an opportunity for students to learn to be leaders. By interacting with fellow residents who have different backgrounds, students will be invited to communicate more intensively and develop their leadership skills.

The hope is that through meeting students from various backgrounds, innovative ideas will emerge that can improve academic quality and enrich their experience while living in the dormitory.

Testa Adi Nugraha, Head of the Operational and Asset Division of the Dormitory Directorate, explained that the student dormitory is designed as a residence that not only supports academic activities, but also plays a role in shaping students' character and soft skills.

The dormitories are expected to be a conducive environment for students to learn, develop personally, and prepare themselves to be resilient professionals who care about the environment.

“The obligation of dormitory residents is not only limited to paying rent, but also maintaining security, order, and comfort together,” he said.

Testa emphasized the importance of complying with the rules that have been set in order to create a harmonious dormitory environment. The general rules of the dormitory include obedience to all applicable regulations, from room placement in accordance with the manager's direction to the obligation to leave the dormitory at the end of the agreed occupancy period.

In addition, dormitory residents are also expected to maintain existing facilities and use the resources provided wisely. In maintaining common courtesy and comfort, Testa also paid special attention to the dress code in the dormitory environment.

“Students are expected to always dress modestly when in public areas of the dormitory. For female residents, it is strictly forbidden to wear shorts or sleeveless clothes when outside their rooms,” she concluded.

By following the established rules, Testa hopes that the dorm residents can enjoy a positive and productive stay at UNESA. In addition, students are expected to develop innovative ideas and build networks that will benefit their academic and career development in the future."[]
