UNESA Presents “Sustainable Green Campus” in Front of UI Greenmetric Assessors

Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA-Campuses with a clean and beautiful environmental atmosphere tend to make students and even lecturers feel at home on campus. In addition, it can also provide a comfortable learning atmosphere. Well, that's what Surabaya State University (UNESA) has realized through its various programs so far, one of which is eco campus.
UNESA has a green area or campus forest which is now named the Independent Learning Laboratory. The green area is a vehicle for recreation, education and conservation. In it there are several fish ponds, there is a jogging track surrounded by various kinds of trees, plants and flowers. In addition, there are also various types of animals ranging from green peacocks, rabbits to pigeons. Beyond that there is much more.
The latest green and sustainable campus infrastructure was presented online by UNESA leadership and team to two UI Greenmetric assessors on Thursday, April 14, 2022. The two assessors in question are Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko M. Hartono, S.E., M.Eng. and Junaidi, S.S., M.A. The presentation was in the context of ranking as a campus committed to greening and environmental sustainability, UI GreenMetrich.
UI GreenMetrich is based on three pillars, namely environment, economy and social with the weight of assessment indicators consisting of campus conditions and infrastructure (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste management (18%), water use (10%), transportation (18%), and education and research (18%).
Related to that, UNESA has already used more than 80% LED light in the campus area. Waste is utilized as compost, hydroponic area, and plastic recycle. 'Campus One Step Ahead' has a waste management program in each study program, especially the fashion study program which processes plastic waste into marketable goods.
